Into the second set of rewrites….. slow going but getting there page by page. Asked another author today how to handle the defensiveness I feel at an author at looking at the suggested rewrites. She reminded me that we should always be grateful to someone who is willing to read through a rough work and make positive suggestions.

Well the cover was finally approved today for the 2nd in the Home Office Lord’s Series.  Now it will go to print and should be available within the month.  I am very excited.  I am also doing research into a literary agent prior to book 3 going to the publisher.  Book 3 is in rewrite/edit stage. (My least favorite stage. lol)

Today I am taking part in the above conference. I am learning so much from established authors in Wisconsin. They have been willing to answer questions from the audience. Awesome day so far!

The 5th installment of the Home Office Lords is officially out. It can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and many more. It is available in paperback and ebook. Would love to see some reviews. The cover on this book is special as it was designed and created by two of my nieces. The sign for the shipping company is the work of Amanda J Flees, who has been so important to me in this entire process. The rest of the cover is thanks to another niece, Emily A Dreier, who is a photographer by trade. Thank you to both of them.

I know I cannot be the only author that gets protective of their work. We put so much of ourselves into our writing, that when an editor sends it back with proposed changes, the first thing I do is get defensive. Yet where would we be without those editors? I have an excellent one that catches if I use a word too many times or if I have mixed up my characters in my story. Once I get past that knee jerk reaction of “what’s wrong with it?”, then I can become proactive and part of the process of making my work polished. It doesn’t mean that there might not be an error here or there, but there will sure be a lot less of them. So thank you to editors out there. We appreciate all that you do.
